About Us

What is Gray State Kinetics about?

At Gray State Kinetics, gray symbolizes the seasoned calm that rises above confusion—the mindset forged through experience, pressure, and hard-earned wisdom. In the real world, situations aren’t black and white. They’re chaotic, fast, loud, morally complex—and often, unforgiving. That’s the gray zone—where clarity fades, adrenaline spikes, and lives hang in the balance. We train for that space.

But it’s not just about reacting to the environment—it’s about the state you bring into it.
The word state reflects a condition of being in a specific moment. We believe in cultivating a gray state: one of awareness, control, and preparedness. It’s the internal posture of someone who can remain grounded in chaos—where wisdom meets action, and calm drives clarity.

Then comes the moment when everything shifts.
That’s where Kinetics begins.

Kinetics are the turning points—the moments when the situation becomes real, when calm collapses into chaos. It’s the active shooter, the violent confrontation, the bleeding victim on the ground. It’s the collision between intention and reality, where consequences unfold fast and without warning. In that moment, you don’t rise to the occasion—you fall to your level of training.

At Gray State Kinetics, we prepare you for that reality. We teach you to act with purpose, to move with precision, and to lead with clarity when everything else is breaking down. Because when the world goes kinetic, there’s no time to find your footing—you need to already be steady. That’s the difference between panic and performance. Between survival and loss.

We live in the gray. We train for the kinetic.

How did we get started?

Gray State Kinetics was born out of a shared passion among seasoned first responders and special operations professionals to elevate the standard of training within the law enforcement community. Our founder, Matt, drawing from over a decade of policing experience, including patrol, SWAT, investigations, and training roles, combined with his Marine Corps background and specialized point of injury medicine training alongside Special Operations medics, envisioned a company that brings together the brightest minds dedicated to preparing first responders for the realities of the job.

Motivated by a relentless drive to teach, empower, and improve, Gray State Kinetics was created as a platform where experienced operators—from SWAT and K9 teams to Special Forces operators/medics and elite tactical instructors—can unite to deliver cutting-edge trauma medicine and tactical training. Our goal is simple yet powerful: to better the professionals who protect and serve by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to perform under pressure, survive critical incidents, and lead with excellence.

At Gray State Kinetics, our passion fuels everything we do. We are committed to building a community of driven, highly skilled trainers who continually push the boundaries of excellence to serve the law enforcement and first responder communities with integrity and purpose.

Our Core Values

By staying true to these values, we’re committed to providing the highest level of support and training to those who serve and protect our communities.

Integrity

Proverbs 10:9

We commit to honesty and ethical behavior. Our training is built on trust, with no shortcuts and no fake promises. We provide authentic, transparent guidance from real experts who don’t sugarcoat. We don’t bend the truth to sell a course. What we say is what we do—because in this line of work, integrity isn’t optional. It’s everything.

Excellence

Colossians 3:23

We hold ourselves and our students to the highest standards, striving for continuous improvement in everything we do. Our team leads by example, pushing themselves just as hard as they push others, and delivering real feedback that drives real growth.
Good enough isn’t good enough here—excellence is the standard, and we don’t settle for anything less than that.

Humility

Philippians 2:3

We believe in collaboration, acknowledging that we don’t know everything but are here to share what we’ve learned. Our instructors lead with humility, always willing to listen, adapt, and grow—because no one’s above learning, and ego has no place in this work.
We train with confidence, not arrogance—real strength comes from staying teachable.

Service

Matthew 20:26

We prioritize the growth of those around us, believing that true leadership starts with putting others first. Our mission is to prepare officers for life-threatening situations—giving them the tools, mindset, and confidence to survive and lead under pressure.
Their success is our success, and we measure our impact by how well we equip those who serve.

Generosity

Luke 6:38

We foster a culture of giving by sharing our time, talent, and knowledge. We don’t train for personal gain but to elevate the entire field—equipping officers with the latest skills and insights to succeed and make a real difference.
Our commitment is to give more than we take, fueling growth across the community we serve.
